Today I am so happy to be part of the Blog Tour for Who Cares If They Die by Wendy Dranfield. Huge thanks, as always to Rachel’s Random Resources, the publisher and author for the invite and copy of the book, which I have reviewed honestly.
Who Cares if they Die
Did she jump or was she pushed?
It starts with the hanging woman in the Maple Valley woods; the woman with no shoes, no car and no name. On paper it’s an obvious case of suicide – but to Officer Dean Matheson, something doesn’t add up.
Then there are the other deaths, deaths that also look like suicides – but are they? The victims are all women living on the fringes of society, addicts and criminals. Who will miss them? Does anyone really care if they die?
Dean Matheson is making it his business to care, even if it means he becomes the target
Officer Dean Matheson has his hands full, his marriage is on the rocks, he has little respect for his new boss and a young woman’s body has been found dangling from a tree in the sleepy town of Maple Valley. The death hits a personal nerve for Dean who is still recovering from the death of his brother and he is determined to uncover the truth.
Meanwhile, Beth Smith, a British psychiatrist arrives in the town to offer counselling to the inmates at a nearby women’s correctional institution. There is an attraction between Beth and Dean but with an ex-lover on the scene and a marriage in tatters, who will he choose?
Other deaths occur and the case becomes more complicated. Dean is desperate to prove himself and further his career but personal matters get in the way.
I flew through this book, it had just the right amount of suspense to keep my attention and characters who certainly kept me wanting to read more. I warmed to Dean over time, at first he came over quite arrogant but his relationship with Rocky, the dog, showed a much softer side. At times my heart raced as I worried about Deans safety and the ending was gripping and really well thought out. If this debut novel turns into a series I would be eager to read more about Dean Matheson’s career.
Author Bio –
Wendy is a British crime thriller writer who lives in Nottinghamshire with her husband and 3 rescue cats.

When not writing, she wastes her time on Twitter, complaining about not having enough time to write.
