About Tom Mitchell
Dogs can be our greatest friends. They live simply, love generously, and care deeply. If we followed their lead, we would run to greet our loved ones the moment they came home, never pass up an opportunity for a joyride, and delight in the simple pleasure of a long walk.
But frustrations often arise when we try to teach them. We snap at the puppy chewing on our shoes. We’re mad at the teenage dog who pulls on his leash. We grow impatient when our older dog takes too long to “do her business”. We want to teach our dogs, but life gets in the way. Discouraged, people may give up or resort to harsh methods.
This is why Tom Mitchell created the 1 Minute Dog Training. Over three decades Tom has hands-on experience with a variety of animals. From wild wolves, aggressive house cats, and Olympic equestrian teams.
However, his greatest love is working with puppies and dogs.
After decades of working with families and their dogs, Tom discovered that the number one reason that people did not train their dogs was because people ran out of time. As the name suggests, this innovative approach teaches short, fun, and focused, 1 minute training sessions.
What Tom discovered with dog training was it’s the consistency that matters, not the length of the sessions. The 1 Minute Training focuses on patience, positive reinforcement, and daily 1 minute sessions.
The 1 Minute Dog Training method promises a unique, effective, and kind way to deepen the bond between people and their dogs.
My Thoughts On 1 Minute Dog Training
These days we lead busy lives and don’t have time to spend hours and hours every day training our dogs. In addition, puppies have short attention spans and easily get distracted in a very short amount of time. So, this 1 minute dog training concept makes so much sense for both owners and dogs.
I love that the techniques used in this book are based on kindness and positivity. It is an excellent resource for a first time dog owner or anyone interested in canine and human relationships. I have read hundreds of dog training books and still found it to be informative and well written.
The author portrays his strong love of dogs and his thirty years of experience really shines through. The chapters are well set out and the training techniques are easy to understand.
A great training aid for dog owners and highly recommended.
