Book Review
How To Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie
They say you can’t choose your family. But you can kill them.
Meet Grace Bernard.
Daughter, sister, serial killer…
Grace has lost everything.
And she will stop at nothing to get revenge.
My Thoughts
The book is narrated by Grace, a deeply troubled girl with a razor sharp sense of humour. Life events have made Grace extremely bitter and dead set on revenge. However, the irony of life threatens to halt her plan before it is completed.
I enjoyed the ingenuity of Grace’s plots to murder. She is not your ‘everyday serial killer’ but is in possession of a cold heart which never waivered from her plan to kill her family. She showed no empathy , even for the nicer members of her family and killed without remorse.
I would have liked to have seen more dimensions to Grace’s character. Her one friend Jimmy could have unveiled a softer side to Grace, which remained hidden.
This is dark, well written and compelling, a great holiday read.
