Zoflora Fresh Home, Pet Disinfectant Review

Zoflora Fresh Home, Pet Disinfectant, and Odour Remover

(Product Review)

This is a product review for Zoflora Fresh Home Pet disinfectant which I bought from Amazon. I have always been a big fan of the other Zoflora disinfectants (my favourite fragrance is Hyacinth) so when I spotted that they do a pet odour specific one I had to give it a try. Hopefully, this product review will help you make your mind up if you have been thinking of trying it out.

My Review Of Zoflora Fresh Home

First of all, I have to say that the fragrance is amazing. However, don’t be tempted to use more than a capful in half a bucket of hot water because it can be seriously overpowering. I’m a little haphazard when using cleaning products and probably use loads more than I need. With this, less is more!

I started by mopping the kitchen floor and was so impressed  I headed off to the bathroom to freshen that too. I poured a few drops into the toilet and down the plug holes and it was still smelling fresh a few hours later. When I checked the following day the kitchen and bathroom tiles looked clean with no streaks or watermarks.

Zoflora Fresh Home

The reason I bought the Zoflora Fresh Home was because it is specifically formulated to remove pet odours. As I mentioned before the brand was already well known to me but this was the first time that I bought the pet disinfectant. I have two small dogs and regularly have other dogs visiting so it’s important that I keep my home hygienic and free from nasty smells.

I made up a solution in a spray bottle. The instructions state to dilute 40 parts water to 1 part Zoflora. I have to admit I guessed! but I added just a few drops at a time until the fragrance was strong but not overpowering. I got to work spraying dog beds, cushions and sofa throws, taking care to keep the dogs well away until the solution had dried. It was a nice day so I pegged the dog’s blankets to the washing line and gave them a quick spray. They were dry in minutes and the fresh air helped to freshen them too.  You can add a few drops to the rinse cycle of the washing machine so I will be doing that next time the blankets need washing.

I remembered I had a faux fur bean bag that the dogs love to sit on. I had noticed it had become a little doggy smelling and had put it in the garage, not really sure what to do with it. I made a solution in some warm water and got to work on it outside with a scrubbing brush. Then I clipped it to the washing line to dry and left for a few hours. When dry I couldn’t believe the difference, it smelled great and I was thrilled because I would probably have thrown it away. The dogs are happy to get their bean bag back too!

Darcy the dachshund gets very excited when people visit and urinates a little, I have also caught him cocking his leg up the furniture. The spray was great for cleaning up these little ‘accidents’ and I think it would be good to have around if you have a puppy, a rescue or an elderly dog.

The last test I did was to spray a little on some artificial flowers I have in the hallway and visitors commented on the nice smell. I really appreciated this because when you have pets I think you become a little paranoid about the house smelling ‘doggy’.

Previously, I have relied on good old fashioned bleach to keep the house clean and hygienic but it does have a very strong, sterile smell. If this disinfectant kills bacteria as well as the bleach, I would definitely keep using the Zoflora.

Concerns

The packaging states that the disinfectant kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, but I had no way of testing this.

It’s a little more expensive than I would normally buy, however, I think it will last for ages.

The fragrance is overpowering if too much is used, remember to dilute.

Tip

When I had finished using the mop I used the water from the bucket to clean the patio slabs and the base of the flowerpots.

I put a few drops of undiluted disinfectant in the dustbin too.

Leave your dishcloths and washing up sponges soaking overnight, the cloths will be hygienically clean and the kitchen smells lovely when you wake up.

Summary

Really impressed! Works well, smells great and a little goes a long way!
