Maybe This Time Blog Tour Poster

The deliciously uplifting new novel from the Sunday Times bestselling author of THIS COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING and MEET ME AT BEACHCOMBER BAY.

Not to be missed by readers of Lucy Diamond and Katie Fforde.

When Mimi first visits her dad’s new home in the Cotswolds, she
falls in love with Goosebrook and the people who live there. (Well,
maybe not snooty Henrietta, who lets Mimi walk miles in the rain
rather than give her a lift.)
There’s Paddy, with his flashing eyes and seductive charm. Friendly
and funny Lois makes Mimi laugh. And seriously gorgeous Cal is
welcoming and charismatic. Though Mimi loves her city life and
her career, she’d be very happy to return to Goosebrook if it means
seeing more of him.
Life is about to take some unexpected and shocking twists and turns. And Mimi’s path and Cal’s
are set to cross again and again – but will it ever be the right time for both of them?

The joy of Jill’s novels:
‘The queen of witty, heart-warming, feel-good love stories’ Red
‘A heartwarming treat from one of my favourite writers’ Katie Fforde
‘Reading Jill is always such a joy!’ Veronica Henry
‘Funny, bouncy, romantic and brilliantly written…A feel-good gem’ ***** Heat
‘The sweetest love story of the year’ Fabulous

My Thoughts

Maybe This Time is the story of Mimi and Cal, two people who are clearly made for each other, but the time is never quite right. The book starts by introducing Mimi, an energetic and ambitious career girl who visits her dad in a rural Cotswold village. However, from that moment on Mimi’s life changes forever.

When a tragedy affects the people of Goosebrook many of the residents are shaken to the core. However time moves on and people begin to enter into new relationships, career paths change and with this brings relocation. When Mimi goes to live abroad my heart dropped to the floor. How on earth would she ever get together with wonderful Cal when she is living in a different country?

As I said before there is heartbreak in the story but there is a great big dollop of humour too. There was a scene after Mimi had been to the dentist and she is trying to talk to Cal with a very swollen and numb mouth which had me giggling away. Poor Mimi, with the man of her dreams inches away from her, and she has a mouth full of anaesthetic! What could be more romantic?

The book is full of multi-layered characters, sublime locations and plenty of highs and lows. I enjoyed the transition in Mimi from a somewhat shallow girl to a mature, thoughtful woman who helped to change her friend’s lives.

A truly uplifting story, packed full of emotion, humour and endearing characters.
