If you suffer from pain every day it’s always good to try a few other things rather than relying on prescription or over the counter medication. Maybe you have an ache or pain that needs soothing, a niggling headache, blocked nose or just general fatigue. Essential oils are effective in the relief of pain because they bypass the digestive system and are absorbed straight into the bloodstream. They can penetrate cells quickly, providing oxygen and increasing circulation to inflamed joints.

Lavender for migraines and tension headaches is soothing and also has a mild sedative effect. It can be applied directly to the forehead or inhaled through a diffuser. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties help relieve aching muscles. Mix a few drops with coconut oil and rub into the area. In addition, it also helps to give a good nights sleep.

Helichrysum oil can be used to treat deep nerve pain such as sciatica. It is also good for bruises and sunburn when applied mixed with a little coconut oil.
Marjoram is analgesic and antispasmodic, therefore it is great for colds, flu, headaches, and muscle spasms.
Basil oil is energising and uplifting, in addition, it has muscle relaxant and decongestant benefits.

Reduce Pain with a Cold Compress
Good for headaches, sprains, and strains. The cooling peppermint works as an analgesic to reduce inflammation and discomfort.
Mix 2 drops of peppermint oil and 500ml of cold water.
Soak a towel in the water, ring out, add ice cubes and apply to affected area.
