Christmas at the Little Knitting Box
Book 1 New York Ever After Series
Christmas is coming and New York is in full swing for the snowy season. But at The Little Knitting Box in the West Village, things are about to change …
The Little Knitting Box has been in Cleo’s family for nearly four decades, and since she arrived fresh off the plane from the Cotswolds four years ago, Cleo has been doing a stellar job of running the store. But instead of an early Christmas card in the mail this year, she gets a letter that tips her world on its axis.
Dylan has had a tumultuous few years. His marriage broke down, his mother passed away and he’s been trying to pick up the pieces as a stay-at-home dad. All he wants this Christmas is to give his kids the home and stability they need. But when he meets Cleo at a party one night, he begins to see it’s not always so easy to move on and pick up the pieces, especially when his ex seems determined to win him back.
When the snow starts to fall in New York City, both Cleo and Dylan realise life is rarely so black and white and both of them have choices to make. Will Dylan follow his heart or his head? And will Cleo ever allow herself to be a part of another family when her own fell apart at the seams?
Full of snow, love and the true meaning of Christmas, this novel will have you hooked until the final page.
Cleo and Dylan meet at a mutual friends party, they are both having a really bad day but the chemistry between them is unmistakable.
Dylan has very sadly just buried his mother, and Cleo has received a letter to say that the lease on her business premises was to come to an end. So, they are both preoccupied and not on the lookout for love.
Cleo runs the delightful Little Knitting Box and she has put everything into making a success of her grandparents business since arriving from England. The shop, in New York, has been in the family for decades and Cleo loves it, displaying every type of yarn imaginable and even running knitting workshops for her loyal customers. She still has a close relationship with Grandpa Joe, but family life has been hard for her.
Life is busy for Dylan too, he has two children who live with him and a demanding, and selfish ex-wife.
On their first date, the couple find that their lives are very firmly linked, by a strange coincidence.
With their lives already entwined, complicated family situations and stressful business situations, will they ever be able to move forward with their relationship?
The author alternates the book between Cleo and Dylan’s stories, so you get to know them equally as well, and you desperately crave a happy ending for them both, The wonderful descriptions of the yarns with their different textures and myriad of colours took me back to my childhood where I spent many hours waiting in wool shops whilst my mother found just the right wool for her latest project.
The writing flows beautifully and the pages fly by, don’t start this book on a day when you have anything else to do!
Helen J. Wolfe’s next novel, (and book 2 of this New York Ever After series), follows very shortly on 12th December 2017 and you can have a glimpse of what is on offer at the bottom of this post. I’m sure it will be another treat for us all.
Both covers are stunning cityscapes with lots of snow and twinkling fairy lights, a snowman and even a child on a sled!. Absolutely charming!
