We’ve all heard of how coconut oil can benefit us, but did you know that it has astonishing results for dogs too?
Coconut Oil for Dogs
Coconut oil is extracted from mature coconuts and takes the form of an edible oil that is used in food and beauty products. It comes in solid form but dissolves into a liquid when gently rubbed between the palms of the hands. It is high in saturated fat and medium-chain triglycerides, which are thought to be behind the health benefits for both humans and dogs.
I first started using coconut oil in my dog’s food to improve dental hygiene. Then I noticed that my miniature dachshund was experiencing some baldness on the tips of his ears and on his chest and tummy area. He was already having a little in his food each day so I started massaging some into his fur once a week and saw results within a month. His black fur also shone beautifully and he smelled lovely too.
