Just a few photos of some of the wooden items I have renovated using Napkin Decoupage.
The items were all lying around the house looking tired and unloved, or bought from car boot sales and charity shops for a pound or two.
As long as the item is made from wood it can be decoupaged.
Some items were also distressed to give a more shabby chic appearance.
After a coat or two of emulsion paint (tester pots are great for this) the item is ready to be decoupaged
I use Cath Kidston napkins but any will be fine, but you must separate the layers of tissue to make it one ply only. This can be fiddly but it is really important.
Cut out the design and decide where you would like it to go. Use a little watered down acrylic glue and smooth the napkin on top of the glue. Add a layer of glue to the top of the napkin also and leave to dry.
Use a clear varnish over the top to make the design more durable and give it a nice sheen.
Hope you like the designs. It’s a really cheap and easy way to upcycle anything made from wood.
Nice! Amazing what you can do with napkins.
Beautiful, love them, especially like the bread bin. Could do with one of those.
