Muddy Paws by Kate Hanford

Muddy Paws

Kate Hanford

Muddy Paws is a small collection of verse written by me about how much we love our dogs.

And here’s a sample

Muddy Paws

The muddy paws came through the door

Past the porch and across the floor

Up the stairs then to the right

Into the bedroom , then out of sight

‘Who has left this trail of mud?’

I could take a guess, I really could!

I followed slowly with a mop

Wondering where the paw prints stop

Past the chewed slipper, the upturned pot

A trail of destruction is what I had got

But my face had to smile

And my grumpiness fled

As I spotted my puppy

Hiding under the bed

And if you want to have a giggle about some of the embarrassing situations we put ourselves in;

and a sample;

THE SWIMMING TRIP

The swimming trip is once a week

When I tone my poor physique

My armpits shaved, my legs fake tanned

I have a rubber key wristband

I try to walk out looking cool

Checking out who’s in the pool

Then gracefully down the steps I go

Hoping that my curves don’t show

The waters cold, I take a gasp

The handrail I do firmly clasp

Then slowly start to do breast stroke

Trying not to spit and choke

One hour later I tiptoe out

Wondering what the fuss is about

Then it does become apparent

That my swimsuit is transparent
