Muddy Paws: A Collection of Poems for Dog Lovers
Muddy Paws is available as an ebook.
From the heartache of losing a beloved friend to the plight of the rescue dog and all the fun of owning a new puppy.
“Some Will Make You Laugh, Some Will Make You Cry”
This poem is dedicated to my dog Alfie, who sadly passed away in April, it’s included in Muddy Paws the ebook.I hope the poem will be comforting to anyone who has sadly lost their dog. The pain of bereavement is incredibly raw but with time the pain reduces and you get to remember the happy times. I wrote this poem very soon after we lost Alfie and it inspired me to write this blog.
I hope you like it :
Goodbye, my friend, the time has come
To hang up your collar, your work here is done
The kindest soul, the warmest heart
The sweetest dog to ever depart
Your little soul mate looks so sad
She’ll never forget the love you had
That tiny puppy you taught to play
She’d nip your tail, then run away
When days were dark, with sadness and pain
You gave me a reason to rise again
And now, too soon, it’s come to an end
And your work is needed in heaven, my friend
They need an angel to stand at the gate
to welcome the others, who’d wait and wait
for their family to join them, so alone and so sad
You’ll comfort their sorrow
and soothe the pain that they had.
So, for now, I bid you goodbye
My angel in heaven, a new star in the sky.
The book also features poems about the excitement of welcoming a new puppy, the different breeds of dog, and the plight of the homeless.
Thank you for reading,
Very cool, I downloaded a copy! I named my new pup Brodie which is Irish/Gaelic for “Muddy Paws” 🙂
Thank you Terri, much appreciated. Give Brodie a hug from me, I adore puppies x
